What to Expect
At Dutt Veterinary Hospital, we understand that pet surgery can be a source of anxiety and stress for pets and their owners. Our team makes every effort to ensure the process is as gentle as possible, and that your pet is safe and comfortable while in our care. In addition, we always walk you through the entire procedure so that you understand the details and know what to expect.
All pets scheduled for surgery get a complete physical exam, EKG, and bloodwork to prepare for the procedure and use of anesthesia. IV fluids are administered intravenously and we closely monitor your pet’s vital statistics (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels) throughout the surgery. We also carefully observe your pet during the recovery period and provide detailed post-surgery instructions for at-home care.
Pain Management
Dutt Veterinary Hospital provides comprehensive pain management medications as well as laser therapy to treat post-surgical pain. Laser therapy is a non-invasive, pain-free veterinary treatment that helps reduce pain and inflammation. This therapeutic treatment uses deep-penetrating light energy to activate a cellular response that stimulates your pet’s body to heal itself naturally, which in turn relieves pain and improves overall recovery from trauma.
