Dutt Veterinary Hospital Dental Care
Routine dental care is vital to maintaining your pet’s oral health and quality of life. Just like humans, our animal companions need routine dental checkups to keep their teeth clean and maintain good oral hygiene. At Dutt Veterinary Hospital, we recommend professional dental cleanings at least once a year to reduce plaque and tartar buildup, and prevent gum disease.
It’s important to brush your pet’s teeth and gums on a regular basis. This practice not only eliminates bad breath, it also prevents periodontal disease, which, if left unchecked, can lead to bleeding, inflammation, and bone loss. A dental cleaning and exam at Dutt Veterinary Hospital includes the following:
- A comprehensive review of your pet’s teeth, gums, and oral cavity to check for loose teeth, gum recession, and mouth ulcers/sores.
- Your pet will be under general anesthesia to ensure they do not experience any pain or discomfort during the dental cleaning procedure. We will carefully monitor your pet’s vital functions and maintain hydration with IV fluids throughout the exam.
- Ultrasonic scaling thoroughly cleans the teeth and tooth polishing creates a surface more resistant to plaque.
Dr. Dutt also provides oral surgical services and performs both simple and complex tooth extractions. If required, we can refer additional dentistry needs to a specialist. Our goal is to provide the highest standard of veterinary dental care so that your pet can maintain a happy and healthy life.
